MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III has appointed former Isabela governor Grace Padaca as the seventh commissioner of the Commission on Elections.
"The appointment papers of Grace Padaca as commissioner have been transmitted to Comelec," presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said.
The post has been left vacant since April when Augusto Lagman was not reappointed by the President.
Earlier, Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes said Padaca "will be a big asset" if she is appointed to the poll body.
Meanwhile, film director Emmanuel Borlaza will serve as acting head of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
This after MTRCB chairperson Grace Poe-Llamanzares joined the senatorial slate of the administration coalition for the 2013 polls.
