ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Two motorcycle-riding men fled with over P2 million after killing a government disbursing officer Monday afternoon in Isabela City, Basilan province.
The city police said the victim, Nurhassan Sakili, was driving a motorcycle on his way back to the Provincial Engineer’s Office from a government bank when he was gunned down by the still unknown assailants shortly after 4 p.m. in Barangay Eastside.
Sakili was carrying the P2.4 million that he withdrew from the bank to pay the salaries of the employees of the engineer’s office, the Provincial Health Office, and the Provincial Social Welfare Office, according to authorities.
The gunmen grabbed the victim’s sling bag containing the money and escaped.
Sakili's attackers are being pursued by authorities.
