MANILA, Philippines -- Police have arrested the owner of a motorcycle allegedly used in the robbery of a Western Union money transfer branch in Paranaque City early this week.
Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., Philippine National Police spokesman, said operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Paranaque police invited Melvin Labastida, 32, for questioning on Thursday.
He will be subjected to inquest proceedings before a Paranaque court, Cerbo said.
The motorcycle used in the daylight heist was identified through its license plates by two eyewitnesses, one of them a security guard of the robbed firm.
The robbers managed to escape with thousands of pesos after shooting it out with responding policemen.
