A week before the official start of the campaign period for senatorial candidates and party list groups, the streets of Metro Manila has already been swamped by various posters and profiles of aspiring electoral candidates.
Whether it be walls, lamp posts, trees to public utility vehicles, one can find the beaming faces of prospective electoral candidates promoting either a certain product or indicating their credentials and achievements.
Although it may seem that these politicians are already "promoting" themselves for the electoral race, the Commission on Elections cannot prevent nor sanction them. In a previous report by InterAksyon.com, poll chairman Sixto Brillantes said that the poll body does not have power to remove posters and banners of politicians on streets since such advertisements are not campaigning directly for a position.
