MILF hands-off on Sabah standoff

MANILA, Philippines - Leaders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Monday said they would maintain a hands-off stance over the worsening situation in Sabah between the armed followers of the Sultan of Sulu and Malaysian security forces.

“We reserve our comment…we prefer settlement,” MILF vice chairman Ghadzali Jaafar said in a phone interview.

Pressed what the MILF could do to help resolve the standoff, Jaafar reiterated “no comment” but he is “confident” the situation will be resolve peacefully and prevent more bloodshed.

Jaafar also refused to comment on the claim of Sultan of Sulu Jamalul Kiram III and his family over Sabah.
