3 policemen killed in ambush by suspected NPA rebels in Ifugao

Three policemen, including an officer, were killed in an ambush by suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Asipulo, Ifugao Friday morning.

Superintendent Davy Limmong, Cordillera police spokesman, said members of the police Regional Public Safety Battalion together with members of the Provincial Public Safety Company were patrolling Barangay Namal at around 7:30 a.m. when they were ambushed by an undetermined number of rebels.

The rebels used high-powered firearms such as automatic rifles and M203 grenade launchers.

Limmong declined to give the names of the slain policemen but said one of them was an officer with the rank of Inspector. Three others were wounded.
