MANILA - Twenty hostages were allegedly used as human shield by members of the Moro National Liberation Front as clashes between the rebel group and government forces continue on Monday.
Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco told Radyo5 about 200 to 400 MNLF members from Basilan attacked the city.
The Amed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has already sent its troops in the area so that no more civilians would be taken as hostage.
Climaco has already formed a crisis committee to help in the rescue of civilians trapped by the armed conflict.
