Tullahan River residents told to evacuate as La Mesa Dam nears overflow

MANILA, Philippines -- Residents along the Tullahan River have been told to evacuate to higher ground after the La Mesa Dam was placed on red alert.

As of 8 p.m., the water level at the dam was 80.01 meters, just 14 centimeters from its overflow level of 8.15 meters.

A thunderstorm is affecting portions of Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan for the next two hours.
