MANILA - A magnitude 5.1 aftershock jolted Tagbilaran City anew, only several minutes after President Benigno Aquino III arrived at the city’s airport, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Wednesday.

Carl Vincent Soriano, science research assistant at the institute, said the aftershock occurred at 10:42 a.m.

This, and an earlier 5.-magnitude quake at 9:36 a.m., were the two strongest aftershocks recorded by Phivolcs for Wednesday.

Earlier, during a news briefing in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, the agency said that as of 8 a.m., it recorded 823 aftershocks.
