President Benigno Aquino III has approved the appointment of Commodore Edgardo Tamayo as the new Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, deputy public affairs chief Maj. Enrico Gil Ileto said.
Tamayo, former commander of the Palawan-based Naval Forces West, succeeded Commodore Teddy Pan.
Before his mandatory retirement, July 17, Pan became controversial for the alleged conversion of more than P420 million worth of petroleum, oil and lubricants supplies, that reportedly took place during the watch of former military chief retired Gen. Ricardo David Jr.
David now heads of the Bureau of Immigration.
Tamayo is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1980.
He served as the commander of Service Force Philippine Fleet (PHLFLT), deputy commander of the Naval Forces Central located in Visayas, commander of the Naval Task Force 71 in Eastern Mindanao, deputy commander of the Patrol Force PHLFLT, Chief of Staff of the Naval Sea Systems Command and commanding officer of five commissioned vessels, the last of which was the BRP Emilio Jacinto (PS-37).
