MANILA, Philippines — Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson will no longer perform in casinos following a recent controversy that caught her on stage with her girl group at a gambling establishment in Parañaque City.

“Some of her contracts are ongoing and recently, because of what happened when a video of her was uploaded while performing in a casino, I think Mocha has also stopped performing in casinos,” PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar said in an interview at the House of Representatives on Friday.

Before Uson assumed office, she asked permission to be allowed to continue performing to honor an entertainment contract she earlier signed.

Pinayagan naman namin as long as ito’y naaayon sa batas [We allowed her as long as it conforms with the law],” Andanar said.

As to performing in casinos, however, Andanar said the PCOO was still awaiting the opinion of the legal office of Malacañang on the matter.

Government officials and employees are banned from casinos by Presidential Decree No. 1067-B (series of 1977), as amended by P.D. 1869 (series of 1983).

The PCOO assistant secretary’s performance reportedly took place at Resorts World Manila. The promotional website of the hotel-casino said that Uson performs with the Mocha Girls at Bar 360 every Tuesdays from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
