MANILA, Philippines — Grab Philippines has offered a P100,000-bounty for information that can lead to the capture of the killers of its driver-partner, Gerardo “Junjie” Amolato Maquidato Jr., the company’s country head, Brian Cu, announced on Monday, October 30.

Maquidato was slain by his passenger, who booked a ride on Thursday, Oct. 26. The still unidentified gunman killed Maquidato along Bonanza Street, Brgy. 189, Pasay City and also took his silver Toyota Innova car.

Nakausap ko po ang misis niya, ang simpleng hiling lang n’ya ay mabigyan ng justice po si Junjie at mahuli ang duwag na pumatay sa kanya [I talked to his wife, her simple wish is for Junjie to be given justice and for his coward killer to be captured],” Cu said in a statement, which was also posted in his social media account.

“I think it’s within our responsibility to do whatever we can para hulihin po ang perpetrator ng crime na ito [for the perpetrator of this crime to be caught],” he added.

Cu said Grab is using its technology to help authorities solve Maquidato’s killing.

“I challenge you. Hindi na kayo magtatagal dito. Mahuhuli kayo at mahuhuli. Nasa amin ang data. Nakita naming kung saan kayo dumaan, saan n’yo binaba [It will no longer take a long time before you are caught. We have the data. We saw where you passed and where you unloaded the victim],” Cu said.

He said Grab would likewise offer the reward to the police.

“We will continue working with the police authorities on this matter. I want the coward brought to justice as swiftly as possible,” Cu said.

Besides the reward, Grab also created a hotline to receive any leads on the whereabouts of the perpetrators.

For any useful information, Grab said the public may call or text 0917-617-8731.
