Parreño chosen acting Comelec chair

MANILA, Philippines — Al A. Parreño has been chosen to become acting chair of the Commission on Elections when his predecessor, Christian Robert Lim, retires on Friday, February 2.

The selection of Parreño by the Comelec en banc was disclosed Thursday during a hearing of the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on Automated Elections.

Lim also announced that COMELEC director Teopisto Elnas Jr. has been designated Project Management Office head.

The PMO director is charged with the implementation of the COMELEC’s automated elections system program.
