MANILA, PHILIPPINES — McDonald’s Philippines and PLDT ALPHA, PLDT enterprise’s corporate business arm, continue to work together to redefine the customer fast food experience as it introduces cashless payments in stores nationwide.

Over 40 McDonald’s restaurants across the country have started accepting cashless payments through a collaboration with PayMaya Philippines, the digital financial services arm of PLDT, Inc.’s Voyager Innovations. Through this partnership, McDonald’s stores can benefit from an end-to-end payment acceptance processing of PayMaya Business which includes the provision of a point-of-sale (POS) device, card and wallet authorization, and fraud and chargeback management.

This payment facility enables a more seamless transaction for customers by simply using their Mastercard and Visa credit, debit, and prepaid cards in purchasing items on the McDonald’s menu.

PayMaya QR payments will also soon be accepted in select McCafe branches, as well as to make online booking and payment for McCelebrations Birthday Parties and even McDelivery.

As the trusted partner of McDonald’s Philippines, PLDT has been the sole telco provider of McDonald’s stores nationwide. PLDT’s continued work with the fast food chain has strengthened over the years with PLDT empowering its digital transformation. An example of which is the processing of data used in McDelivery’s website and mobile app. Developments like this have secured the position of McDonald’s as one of the most innovative food services company in the Philippines.

Golden Arches Development Corp. Executive Vice President and Deputy Managing Director Margot Torres shared how innovation has already changed their customers’ lifestyle and how McDonald’s, as a brand, should be able to adapt.

“Our company has been in business for the past 36 years. However, there are things that still keep us on our toes—fear of change, fear of making mistakes, and fear of being irrelevant. If a brand is irrelevant, then there’s no point in existing. To overcome these fears, we cannot do it alone. It is important to collaborate with experts to enable us to stay on top,” shared Torres.

“Digital is now, if not yesterday, and we need to take advantage of that. With our partnership with PLDT and its various arms like PayMaya, we are confident that we can stay relevant. We have always sought to provide frictionless experience to our customers, and with our ever-growing partnership with the country’s leading telco and digital services provider, I can confidently say that McDonald’s will always be in the forefront of innovation,” Torres added.

Apart from McDonald’s, PLDT also supports various companies and merchants to achieve digital transformations through various innovations and services. The growing roster also includes LGUs and government offices in line with PLDT’s vision to have a digitally-enabled nation.

“Beyond supplying innovations, our mission at PLDT is to be our customers’ partner towards growth. Technologies come and go, but the relationship and dedication we provide our partners to ensure that their customers and stakeholders achieve an elevated brand experience, will remain a constant,” said First Vice President and Head of PLDT ALPHA, Vic Tria. “McDonald’s is such a beloved brand to all Filipinos and with this solution, they will be better able to strengthen that bond by being more accessible to their customers.”

As an enabler of digital transformation, PLDT, along with its subsidiaries, aims to future-proof Philippine businesses through its wide range of telecommunications and digital services.
