TALISAY CITY, Cebu -- Officials of Talisay City announced they will be hiring more than 10,000 women to work and train for a Japan-based semiconductor company in Danao City.

The Talisay City government is coordinating with the Cebu Mitsumi Inc. to tap the city’s jobless women who are willing to be trained while earning as electronic assemblers and operators for the Japan-based company’s factory in Danao City.

The grandson of Cebu Rep. Eduardo Gullas (Cebu, 1st district), Gerard Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, one of the coordinators of the program, said the deal between the city and Cebu Mitsumi Inc. could benefit many women in the city, especially those who are jobless.

Melvin Martin, a representative for Cebu Mitsumi Inc.’s human resources department, said successful applicants would “learn and earn” as well, through their “world-class dual training system program in electronics assembly.”

Martin said the practice had been taught in countries such as Taiwan and Malaysia.

Successful applicants will be given three-year contracts with pay. They will also be compensated with free hospitalization and accident insurance.

Female applicants who finished high school, are at least 18 to 30 years old, and have not been employed previously in Cebu Mitsumi Inc., are qualified to apply.

The Talisay City government and Cebu Mitsumi Inc. will have an on-site job hiring in the 22 barangays in the city.

On May 12, on-site hiring will be conducted in Barangays Poblacion, Cansojong, San Roque and Tangke.

On May 25, hiring will be conducted in Barangays Jaclupan and Campo 4 and 5. While on June 8, on-site hiring will be conducted in Barangays Tabunok and Lagtang.

On June 16, on site hiring will go to Barangays San Isidro and Dumlog. While on June 22, Barangays Lawaan 1, 2 and 3 will have its own on-site hiring.

On June 30, on-site hiring will be in Barangay Biasong, Pooc and Mohon. Brangays Maghaway, Tapul, and Linao will have its hiring on July 6.

On July 13, the last on-site hiring will be in Barangays Bulacao and Candulawan.
