MANILA, Philippines - The DMCI-Marubeni consortium has bagged the contract to construct the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7).
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, DMCI Holdings Inc. said the joint venture between its construction arm D.M.Consunji Inc. and Marubeni Corp. of Japan recently signed an engineering, procurement, construction contract for the Metro Rail Transit System and Intermodal Transportation Terminal of the MRT-7.
The railway project involves the construction of a 22-kilometer train line with 14 train stations from San Jose del Monte in Bulacan to the corner of North Avenue and Epifanio de los Santos Avenue in Quezon City. The project also involves a 22-kilometer six-lane road from the MRT-7 depot in Bulacan.
In 2010, San Miguel Corp.’s wholly owned unit San Miguel Holdings Corp. inked an agreement to acquire up to 51 percent of Universal LRT Corp. Ltd. (ULC BVI), which holds the concession for MRT-7.
