MANILA, Philippines - Sales of imported vehicles rose by 12 percent in April led by the passenger car segment, according to the Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID).

Data from AVID showed that industry sales reached 2,333 units last month from 2,085 in the same period last year.

This brought the four-month tally to 10,633 units from 8,119 last year.

Passenger car sales surged 85 percent to 6,527 units from 3,526 last year.

“We step into the second quarter with the confidence that the optimistic business and financial landscape will bring about continued and exceptional sales performance for all AVID members,” Maria Fe Perez-Agudo, the group's president said.
