MANILA - The Department of Trade and Industry will look into the rising number of complaints against dealers of cars and motorcycles who prefer financing schemes over cash transactions.

"We are looking at the auto and motorcycle dealers in terms of their sales practices because we have been receiving some complaints about this. The practice is they don't allow you to buy in cash, they want financing. While you can buy your vehicle in cash, the delivery is much longer than when you get it through financing," Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo told reporters on Tuesday.

"We want to look at this, whether this constitutes an act of unfair trade practice," Domingo said.

Automobile and motorcycle dealers were unavailable for comment as this went online.
