MANILA - Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. plans to double the number of buses plying the Bonifacio Global City central business district to address the growing number of business process outsourcing workers and locators.
"Our plan is to continue to operate bus transport and public transportation in Bonfication Global City. We have 25 buses plying in different routes within BGC. We have plans to double the number of buses within the next three to four years to respond to the growing number of BPO workers and guest visitors going to the city," Emmanuel Blas, FBDC head for commercial operations, said on Thursday.
"In the future you can see that it will not only be big buses going around but smaller type of buses depending on the routes. Right now, we are providing shuttle services to some of the BPO buildings that are here," he said.
With the present schedule, 85 to 90 percent of bus riders wait less than 10 minutes to get a ride.
"We are not happy with that. Our target is 95 percent of those riders waiting less than 10 minutes. We want to continue to improve our routing and get more buses," Blas said.
He said FBDC - which is controlled by Ayala Land Inc., Evergreen Holdings Inc. of the Campos group and state-run Bases Conversion Development Authority - will add parking slots throughout BGC.
Companies located at the BGC include Accenture, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Lawson Software, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, Ericsson, TetraPak, JPMorgan Chase, St. Luke's Medical Center , among others.
Upscale residential condominiums located in the BGC include Essensa, Serendra, Pacific Plaza Towers, Bonifacio Ridge, and Regent Parkway, while office buildings for rent include Net One and Bonifacio Technology Center.
