MANILA - The Toll Regulatory Board will begin public hearings on petitions to increase rates on three major toll ways.

“We have sufficiently covered the technical aspect of the petitions and we might proceed to the hearing process very soon,” said Manuel Imperial, TRB executive director.

“These adjustments were due since January this year. But we have to follow certain procedures and these procedures take time,” he said.

Imperial said the operators "may ask for a retroactive adjustment."

State-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority is seeking a 19-percent toll hike along the 90-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway. This would increase the toll as follows:

- Class 1 vehicles, from P243 to P289;

- Class 2 vehicles, from P543 to P648; and

- Class 3 vehicles, from P815 to P972.

Star Infrastructure Development Corp., which operates the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road, is asking for the following adjustments:

- Class 1 vehicles, from P67 to P72;

- Class 2 vehicles, from P134 to P144; and

- Class 3 vehicles, from P200 to P217.

The Cavite Infrastructure Corp., which operates the Cavite Expressway, wants the following rates hikes:

- Class 1 vehicles, from P24 to P29;

- Class 2 vehicles, from P48 to P58; and

- Class 3 vehicles, from P72 to P86.
