MANILA - The operator of Cebu Pacific on Friday said it signed a five-year contract with SIA Engineering Co. Ltd. for the maintenance, repair and overhaul services of the Philippine carrier's fleet.
In a statement, Cebu Air Inc. said SIAEC will provide the MRO services - worth $236 million - to the carrier in the Philippines and Singapore.
CEB said it will take delivery of 22 Airbus A320 aircraft, adding to the carrier's existing 30 A320s and A319s.
"This new agreement further strengthens the strong synergies and excellent relationship between SIAEC and Cebu Air since the signing of the first fleet management contract between the Companies in 2005. Both companies have worked in close partnership to uphold the engineering excellence and high dispatch reliability of the airline," said William Tan, chief executive officer of SIAEC.
Lance Y. Gokongwei, CEB chief executive, said the airline "will continue to grow our fleet and widen our network."
The airlines early this week said it was adding a fifth Philippine hub in Iloilo. The carrier already mounts flights from Manila, Cebu, Clark and Davao.
