MANILA - The 2013 national budget of the Aquino administration is expected to create more than a million direct and indirect jobs, according to the National Economic and Development Authority.
"That's the effect on the economy, the overall effect on the economy if the uncertainties in the global market are not going to be as bad as some are speculating," NEDA Director-General and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Baliscan told reporters.
He said the 2013 national budget is "labor intensive" and "employment oriented."
The government has proposed a P2.006-trillion budget for 2013, 10.5 percent higher than the P1.816 trillion this year.
The government's budget next year represents 16.8 percent of the country's gross domestic product, and is based on a higher growth assumption of 6 to 7 percent.
Under the Philippine Development Plan for 2011 to 2016, the Aquino administration adopts a 7 to 8 percent annual growth target.
The growth target is expected to generate an average of a million new jobs a year, primarily in the industry and service sectors.
The growth target implies a tripling of per capita incomes to about $5,000 in two decades.
