MANILA – Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. and Century Properties Group Inc. on Tuesday sealed agreements for a strategic partnership, through which the telecom giant’s services will be bundled with the high-end units of the property developer.

PLDT chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan and Century Properties Group chairman and former ambassador Jose Antonio led the the two firms in the contract signing ceremonies.

Under their memorandum of understanding, Century Properties branded PLDT’s services - including PLDT Home, Cignal and Smart or Sun – as the "Ultra Connectivity by Century Properties, Powered by PLDT Group."

These services will be made available initially at The Gramercy Residences, which will be turned over to unit owners in December this year.

Other upcoming projects such Azure, Century and Acqua Residences will also be provided with PLDT's telecom services.

PLDT and Century Properties officials said the partnership augurs well for both businesses.

Ernesto Alberto, PLDT executive vice president and head of Enterprise, International and Carrier Business Group, said the partnership would position the telco in the first-class housing segment, which Century Properties addresses.

“A number, if not a majority, of those developments are geared over end-user housing, basically first class housing development, and certainly these facilities will require enablement of communication as well as Internet facilities, and we're more than happy to be of service and partnership with them,” he said.

John Victor Antonio, Century Properties chief operating officer, said PLDT fits the property firm’s positioning in the first-class segment of the market.

“When unit owners move in, they not only have their couch, their fridge; they also have their Internet, Wi-Fi, they have cell phone signal, they have digital TV, so it’s complete,” he said.

On top of the bundled telecom services, PLDT Alpha Enterprise will provide security services for Gramercy, which is Century Properties’ first high-end project at the Century City compound in Kalayaan, Makati City. The service will be replicated in all of Century Properties’ succeeding developments.

“We partnered with PLDT also to get state-of-the-art security system. I think we have the most cameras in any building—almost 600 cameras in Gramercy alone, so that we'll ensure the safety of residents and minimize potential threats,” Antonio said.
