Howie Dorough may have played Dracula in the music video for Grammy-nominated “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),” but fellow Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson is the one who’s baring his fangs for a new vampire movie to be released this year.
In an interview with E! Online, Richardson revealed he was playing “a drug-addict vampire” in “The Bloody Indulgent”, touted on its website as “a sexy vampire musical.”
“He’s got a lot of different things going on with him,” Richardson said of his character. “A lot of different issues he’s trying to work through.”
Although he said he had “always loved vampire films,” he admitted to never having seen Edward Cullen sparkle on the silver screen. ”I haven’t seen any of the ‘Twilight’ films.”
“The Bloody Indulgent” is shaping up to be very different from the popular teen movie franchise, featuring scantily clad dancers, gun-wielding bloodsuckers, and bisexual Nosferatus in one stage.
Richardson is also set to rejoin the Backstreet Boys as they record a new album this year.
Although he took a break from the highly popular boy band in 2006 so he could start a family, in April the band announced his return at a London show with New Kids on the Block.
“Now everything is back to normal… Welcome back at @kevinrichardson,” tweeted the Backstreet Boys.
The group known for hits such as “As Long As You Love Me,” “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart),” and “I Want It That Way” will celebrate their 20th anniversary next year.
In the same year they will be honored with a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame for the Recording category.
“Just found out Backstreet Boys are being honored with our own “STAR’ on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, California next year! Now we made it!” tweeted Dorough (@howied).
Fellow Backstreet Boy Nick Carter (@nickcarter) had this to tweet: “I feel like Lebron James and we just won the NBA title…finally!! We have been accepted for a star on the Hollywood walk of fame! AMAZING!”
The late Luther Vandross, Usher, and New Kids on the Block will also be receiving a spot on the Walk of Fame for the same category.
The latter group joined the Backstreet Boys early this month for a concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, capping off an international tour.
