MANILA, Philippines- Derek Ramsey insists John Lloyd Cruz has nothing to do with his spat with girlfriend Angelica Panganiban.
He sounded so certain in his tweet on Friday: “Guys pls don’t believe any of the rumors about angel and john Lloyd. They did scenes for a movie and that’s it. That’s the truth. Tnx 
”
The recently-crowned ‘Box Office King’ was responding to Twitter followers, mostly females, blaming John Lloyd for the current status of his relationship with Angelica (whose nickname is Angel) which he himself had described as a “cool-off stage.”
News of the tiff started Sunday night when Derek did not mention Angelica in his acceptance speech at the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation Awards. “May pinagdadaanan kami,” he admitted to MJ Marfori of News5 Aksyon right after the ceremonies.
On Tuesday, Ramsay sent this intriguing tweet to his girlfriend: “Be strong. We all know who you are and that there is no truth to what’s being said. I’m here for you if ever you need anything.”
The next day, Philippine Star columnist Ricky Lo suggested that the relationship was on the rocks because Angelica and John Lloyd “discovered that they have something in common, that they like the same thing” while shooting a movie in Vietnam during Holy Week.
PEP.ph reported that sources from the camps of John Lloyd and Shaina Magdayao have also denied that Angelica is the reason for their own breakup, something Shaina herself confirmed with a statement on Friday: “John Lloyd and I have agreed to end our relationship. The reason is purely between John Lloyd and myself.”
Curiously, Angelica and John Lloyd have so far remained mum and have not tweeted or issued statements on the matter.
Derek, who has consistently grabbed headlines since transferring to TV5 in early April, is the only one addressing the controversy in his Twitter account. But he does this only in response to followers inquiring about the issue and mostly in defense of his estranged sweetheart, who is reportedly vacationing in Thailand.
Responding to Twitter user Angel Suazo (@mommieangelove) who tweeted: “We have videos of angelica and lloydie kissing… dont deny if its bcoz of 3rd party… she is not worth to live with…”
Derek replied, “Angel did a movie with jld in Vietnam where they had scenes like that. Work is work. look pls dont make up things ok. Angel is a decent woman. Tnx.”
Derek’s tweets reflect his respect for his girlfriend of six years and strongly, if not categorically, suggests that infidelity on Angelica’s part is not among the problems they need to sort out.
But at least one other Twitter follower believes another third party is to be blamed for the couple’s parting of ways, albeit temporarily.
Linking Derek this time to rising actress and FHM’s Sexiest Woman for 2011 Sam Pinto, Twitter user Alona Valencia (@alona810) tweeted: “there’s a blind item about you and Sam Pinto on Fashionpulis.com, feel sorry for angel if this is true.”
To this, the Kapatid hunk retorted: “I don’t even know Sam. I’ve only worked with her.”
For the most part, the athletic star’s tweets are sports-related including his recent participation in a Frisbee tournament in Boracay where he happily reported that his team won.
