As the clamor for Wally Bayola’s return to “Eat Bulaga” becomes stronger with each passing day, another one of his celebrity friends in the industry has echoed the earlier opinion of Vic Sotto that he should apologize over the sex scandal that had caused him to drop out of the limelight in the first place.
Comedienne Eugene Domingo, the star of the MMFF entry, “Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel” and host of the GMA game show, “Celebrity Bluff”, where Wally was also a mainstay, told ABS-CBN entertainment news site Push.com.ph that she is constantly praying for her colleague and agrees with Bossing Vic that he will get a second chance if he would apologize for his actions.
“It’s always good naman to be mas mapagkumbaba…Wala namang taong hindi nabibigyan ng pangalawang pagkakataon sa buhay,” Eugene was quoted as saying.
Last September, an intimate video of Wally and Eat Bulaga EB Babe Yosh Rivera surfaced on YouTube and immediately became viral. The scandal resulted in Wally’s indefinite leave from the show.
Public opinion towards the comedian was initially unfavorable. But just one month after news of the scandal broke out, not a few people began to clamor for Wally’s return not just on the popular noontime show but in performing in general as the bald comedian is also one half of the popular comedy team Wally and Jose with fellow funnyman Jose Manalo.
Michael V, another of Wally’s Dabarkads on “Eat Bulaga” and host of TV5’s “Killer Karaoke: Pinoy Naman”, expressed hope that Wally could stage a successful comeback just in time for the Christmas season.
“Siguro biased ako kasi kaibigan ko siya at kasama sa industry, but if you close your eyes to that incident, ang daming nagagawa ni Wally, ang dami niyang napapaligaya. Ang dami ding tuloy na nade-deprive ng kakayanan ni Wally just because of that,” Bitoy told InterAksyon and other media last October.
In an interview with “KrisTV” early last December, Bossing Vic told Kris Aquino that he could ask the Eat Bulaga management to bring Wally back.
“For me personally OK lang naman, but he has to apologize,” Vic stressed. “I think people will people understand. Alam ko naman mapagpatawad ang Pilipino”.
In that same interview, Jose said Wally had appeared with him in public during a fundraiser in Olongapo City. In another report posted on entertainment news blog Pinoystop.com, Wally and Jose also recently hosted a mall show in Pampanga.
The same report also quoted “Eat Bulaga” executive producer and Wally’s talent manager Malou Choa-Fagar as confirming that Wally would resume work on the show before the end of December. However, the year ended without Wally Bayola returning to “Eat Bulaga”.
As to when Wally will finally be welcomed back to the show remains a question mark. There is no question, however, that a good number of his fans miss him as manifested in these tweets:
