Beauty Gonzalez, an actress and former housemate of the popular reality show “Pinoy Big Brother”, was arrested last Monday by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Calapan, Mindoro allegedly for “obstruction of justice”.

This was posted on the website of the Island Sentinel, a local newspaper covering the areas of Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Laguna, NCR and Region 4.

The report stated that Beauty (real name: Christine Marie Gonzales) was nabbed last November 18 at around 2AM at the Batangas City port after she tried to help her brother, identified as Michael Ryan Gonzales, escape from CIDG custody in Calapan, Mindoro.

Michael was arrested last November 14 for his alleged involvement in a human trafficking case that will be filed against him by officials of the Department of Labor and Employment and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The story of the escape itself seems straight out of a movie cliffhanger as Beauty reportedly enticed CIDG officials into allowing her brother to momentarily leave the CIDG premises “to buy something outside”. But as soon as Michael boarded Beauty’s car, it sped off to the Calapan port where the two, along with the car driver, boarded a passenger ferry bound for the Batangas port.

That’s where the port police and CIDG authorities of Batangas intercepted them and paved the way for their eventual return to Calapan.

But Beauty’s latest posts on Twitter and Instagram suggest that the 22-year-old actress is now out and has returned to work. Work in this case is presumably the ABS-CBN soap opera “Maria Mercedes” where she is a cast member.

Although she did not specifically mention the reported incident, Beauty’s latest posts seem to refer to her recent ordeal.

Beauty started her career in her teens as a housemate on “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus” in 2008 where she ended up placing 4th overall. Her batchmates included Valerie Weignmann, Robi Domingo, eventual winner Ejay Falcon and, in one of her earlier television stints, Andi Eigenmann, who was one of the designated house players in that season.

Since then, Beauty has carved a steady career as a character actress, appearing in numerous teleseryes on ABS-CBN and in two films produced by Star Cinema.
