Thousands waited for hours at the Eastwood Mall in Libis on Wednesday just to catch a glimpse of the “American Idol” Season 11 finalists.
Five of the 10 who arrived in Manila on Tuesday showed up at the meet-and-greet event: Jessica Sanchez, Heejun Han, Deandre Brackensick, Erika Van Pelt and Elise Testone.
Half-Filipina Jessica was, of course, the star of the event. She was able to hug and kiss her most loyal admirers. The group signed autographs and had a chance to personally meet their very eager Filipino fans.
But it was Hee Jun Han who stole the show with his quips. After a fan gave him dried mangoes from Cebu, he asked the crowd, “Who wants a mango?” I can’t give this away I want this!”
He also playfully asked Jessica: “If Dendre and I were floating at sea who would you save?” He tried to imitate Jessica’s voice and said, “I would save Hee Jun.” This drew laughter from the crowd.
The Idols had another meet=and-greet event at Venice Piazza last night. They will hold a concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday night in the final and only international leg of the “American Idol” tour.
