Lola Sela Bungangera dies at 66

 

Radio drama pioneer Eloisa Cruz Canlas, better known as “Lola Sela Bungangera”, passed away on Sunday, after a lingering illness she sustained from a road accident on November 3, 2011.

Her remains lie in state at the Holy Trinity Chapels and Crematorium , Dr. A. Santos Avenue, Sucat, Paranaque City. Cremation rites will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 10am.

She is survived by sons Roderick,Robert and Edward.

Canlas jumpstarted her voice acting career on campus radio as a hobby and later tempered her unparalleled skill over at Manila Broadcasting Corporation’s DZRH for more than five decades.

Her voice made its mark on almost all dramas that DZRH produced since the ’70s, and promo plugs for countless consumer products.

Before her accident, she was presented the University of the Philippines Gawad Plaridel Award 2011 for her unique abilities and contribution to the broadcast industry.
