Marjorie Barretto says photo scandal is ‘closed’, but Gretchen reveals otherwise

Marjorie Barretto and Julia sing on the Mother's Day special of 'ASAP' on Sunday.

That’s how actress-turned-politician Marjorie Barretto when asked on “The Buzz” if she considers the matter of her recent photo scandal a closed book.

Marjorie was interviewed earlier after performing a duet with daughter Julia Barretto on a Mother’s Day special on “ASAP” where she said being a mother to her kids comes first before everything else.

“Once you’re a mother, you no longer own yourself so you give yourself one, two, three days to cry,” she said in reference to the issue. “After that, you pick up yourself and then life goes on. Life moves on kasi may mga anak pa ako. Yeah, malalakas naman ang loob ng mga anak so walang dahilan para hindi ako maging matapang din. Life has moved on.”

But sister Gretchen Barretto, who was co-hosting the show, said that the issue is far from settled. After admitting to Boy Abunda that Marjorie is indeed the person in those scandalous photos that were circulated online, Gretchen said there are times when Marjorie is okay and times when she is not.

The equally controversial actress said she also directly asked her sister what she intends to do about the situation and according to her, Marjorie said: “Gretch, hintayin natin na matapos ang eleksyon. Magsasalita ako, ilalabas ko kung ano ang dapat ilabas. Wala akong itinatago. Meron lang akong pinuprotektahan,” Gretchen quoted her sister as saying before adding that she hopes and pray that Marjorie makes good on her word.

“Be patient, konting araw na lang naman,” Gretchen asked the show’s viewers.

Earlier, Marjorie appeared with her lawyers from the Kapunan, Garcia & Castillo law offices and distributed a statement warning media outlets and private netizens from continuously circulating those pictures which are in violation of Republic Act No. 9995 known as the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.

Marjorie has also posted certain quotes on her Instagram account in showing how she is coping with the controversy. From the daily quote site, “”, she posted, “A successful Woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks thrown at her.”

And from the song, “Titanium” by David Guetta, she posted the line, “I’m bullet proof nothing to lose fire away fire away…Ricochet you take your aim…fire away fire away…You shoot me down BUT I WON’T FALL I AM TITANIUM.”
