Nora Aunor among award-winning mentors in Brillante Mendoza workshop
Superstar Nora Aunor will join an all-star line-up of mentors in the very first Brillante Mendoza Film Workshop scheduled from March 31 to April 6.
Organized by Mendoza’s own Center Stage Productions, the 2009 Cannes’ Best Director awardee and 2013 French’ Culture and Arts Knighthood recipient told InterAksyon that the workshop will be the first of a series of holistic film production workshops designed specifically for film enthusiasts and young professionals.
It will take place at the CSP offices at No. 947 Busilak Street, Barangka Drive, Mandaluyong City.
The film workshop is divided into four modules of Directing, Acting, Scriptwriting and Cinematography. Participants of each module will undergo six days of intensive seminar conducted by some of the country’s finest artists in their individual fields.
Mendoza himself will conduct the Directing Workshop with guest filmmakers Chito Roño, Jeffrey Jeturian and Joel Lamangan sharing their expertise. The scriptwriting workshop will be mentored by master screenwriter Armando “Bing” Lao who Mendoza cited as his mentor when he won Best Director in the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival for “Thy Womb”.
Another of Mendoza’s frequent collaborators, Odyssey Flores, will handle the Cinematography Workshop.
Acting enthusiasts will be happy to know that aside from Mendoza, actor Jojo Atienza and 2013 Cinemalaya Director’s Showcase Best Supporting Actress Ruby Ruiz will serve as facilitators. Coco Martin, Ms. Eugene Domingo and Ms. Nora Aunor are also serving as guest mentors.
One of the country’s bonafide box office stars, Domingo is a comedienne who started her career acting in theater. She already has 14 acting awards to her name including two for Best Actress in the international film festival circuit for “Barber’s Tales”.
Martin first made his name in the independent film circuit starring in Mendoza’s early films as he slowly worked his way to A-list status as a sought after leading man.
With 56 trophies to her name, three of them for “Thy Womb”, Aunor has the distinction of being the most honored actress in Philippine film history. Fans are anxiously awaiting for a team-up between Martin and Aunor under Mendoza’s direction.
“We are inviting interested individuals to participate in our series of intensive weeklong workshops and learn from these renowned award-winning filmmakers,” Mendoza said. “The workshoppers will choose only one (1) category among the four modules. As a culminating activity, short films will be produced and will be screened at the SM Aura Premier, in McKinley Parkway in Taguig City.”
Workshop fee is P18,000 for the Acting, Scriptwriting and Cinematography workshops and P20,000 for the Directing Workshop. Lunch and snacks will be served.
Mendoza also stressed that slots are limited for each workshop. Those interested should now contact Zoe Delos Santos at mobile numbers +639054521842 and +639496674332 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org or Zander Alih at mobile number +639172794755 and email at email@example.com.
