Toni Gonzaga and Charlene Gonzalez bade a surprise farewell to the long-running ABS-CBN gossip show “The Buzz” on Sunday after over three years of sharing hosting duties with original host Boy Abunda.

Both actresses thanked Abunda and one another as well the producers for their stints on the show.

Abunda, who has been on board since the program premiered 14 years ago, will stay on and welcome a new pair of female co-hosts in Carmina Villaroel and Janice de Belen next Sunday.

The show will also be reformatted and will henceforth be known by a new name, “Buzz ng Bayan”.

Rumors had swirled that Toni and Charlene were on their way out after ABS-CBN’s Saturday afternoon entertainment talk show “Showbiz Inside Report” ended its 18-month run last month, freeing up its female hosts, Villaroel and De Belen.

Last Saturday, Gonzalez gave a hint to her social media followers that she was leaving “The Buzz” when she posted on her Instagram account (@itsmecharleneg) a logo of the show with the caption “Maraming salamat…”
