Pinoy horror fans will never forget Ishmael Bernal’s segment in the first “Shake, Rattle & Roll” movie. Along with Peque Gallaga’s “Manananggal”, the macabre story of a murderous and lustful refrigerator launched Regal Films’ horror omnibus franchise, which has become a fixture in the annual Metro Manila Film Festival since 1984.
Twenty-eight years later, with “Shake, Rattle & Roll” No. 14 on its way, Regal decided to spring “Pridyider” out of deep freeze and make a full-length sequel.
Taking over the reins from the late great Bernal is horror specialist Rico Maria Ilarde (“Villa Estrella”, “Babaeng Putik”).
Original leading lady Janice de Belen, whose character was last seen being devoured by the refrigerator from hell, provides continuity to the story, presumably as a malevolent spirit trapped in the freezer.
Andi Eigenmann is the ref’s new object of desire, and she has never looked more alluring as she does in the uncut trailer above, which was uploaded to YouTube recently.
Also in the cast are JM De Guzman, Janice De Belen, Joel Torre, Ronnie Lazaro, Baron Geisler, Bekimon and Venus Raj. No release date has yet been announced.
