The trailer for “Life of Pi”, Ang Lee’s adaptation of the acclaimed novel about a young man’s survival at sea against incredible odds, has been released by 20th Century Fox, and it looks awesome.
“Life of Pi” is originally a best-selling novel by Yann Martel that won the prestigious Mann Booker Prize in 2002. In December, it will be released as a major Hollywood film by Ang Lee, the acclaimed director of “Brokeback Mountain”, “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Sense and Sensibility”.
Lee shot the film in 3D, utilizing gbroundbreaking techniques to convey the story’s epic scope. He also cast a total newcomer, Suraj Sharma, in the title role of Pi Patel, a 16-year-old son of an Indian zookeeper who survives a shipwreck and ends up sharing his lifeboat with a hyena, a wounded zebra, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger.
“Life of Pi” will be released by Warner Bros. in the Philippines on January 8, 2013.
