Zoren, Carmina share secrets behind wedding of the year
Can any groom out there top what Zoren Legaspi did for his bride Carmina Villaroel last November 15 at Fernbook Gardens?
When the couple faced their friends in the entertainment press three days later, Zoren was still beaming with pride at what he had accomplished.
Zoren swore he did it all for the mother of his twin children and his companion for more than 12 years.
Walang ibang dahilan. I wanted to marry her. And she deserved it,” he said.
On Saturday, November 24, the public will get to chance to witness the wedding of the year and see for themselves how Zoren was able to pull off a major showbiz event without Carmina suspecting anything.
“ABS-CBN will show the whole package on November 24, after ‘MMK’ (‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’).
He revealed that their children, Cassandra and Maverick, had assumed all these years that their parents had been married already. Five days before the big day, Zoren talked to the twins and revealed his plan for a secret wedding ceremony. He realized then that they had known about their mother’s first marriage to Rustom Padilla, the man who is now the transsexual BB Gandanghari who is in the cast of the TV5 show “Enchanted Garden” just like their father.
Carmina was able to discuss the matter with the twins after the ceremony.
Sabi nga niya, she and Mavi thought na tatay and I were married na. And sabi niya, si Tatay daw told them everything.
At while they were growing up, wala naman silang mga insecurities. Everything was so perfect lang talaga,” she said.
In fact, Maverick had already asked her once before about BB. “Sabi niya, ‘Mom, that dude used to be a guy? That used to be your bf? Husband?
And then it was Zoren’s turn to explain why his ex-girlfriend and also an “Enchanted Garden” co-star, Ruffa Gutierrez, had not been invited to the wedding.
“Hindi na namin siya inabala. Baka kasi maikuwento niya, masira ang plano,” Zoren joked. But in fact, he had inquired about Ruffa’s availability on the wedding day from her girl Friday and was told that she would be in Cebu. Ruffa, he said, congratulated him the day after the wedding and asked him to treat the “Enchanted Garden” cast to a lechon feast during taping.
As for the prior legal requirements for the civil rites officiated by Court of Appeals Judge Amy Javier, Zoren had connived with Carmina’s sister to make her sign documents ostensibly for BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue) purposes.
Zoren shares the credit for all the logistical planning for the wedding with two women. “We thank our line producer Shirley Kuan and and EP (executive producer) namin na si Tita Dolor Guevara,” he said.
Dolor suggested that they get the rings from the jeweler to the stars, Vicky Elises, but the more ‘sosyal’ Shirley suggested that Zoren get a Harry Winston set. “Masaya na mahirap. Kasi ‘yung dalawa nagta-talo. Sila ‘yung nagpa-panic,” he recalled.
“‘Yung aerial shots were courtesy of Raymart and Claudine Santiago (Raymart’s business is called Helivision).
“We had to hire the crew of ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ dahil all over the place, nakakalat ang mga hidden cameras. ‘Yung salamin ni Carmina nung inaayusan siya had a camera kaya kitang-kita all her reactions.”
