MANILA – The newest installment to the bestselling Mate series, Huawei takes a step ahead in smartphone photography, battery life and processing.
The China-based tech giant said that it had addressed the common flaw of today’s Android smartphones as most of these devices over time lose their speed, responsiveness and momentum, or what is referred in the industry as “performance erosion”.
For the Mate 9, Huawei equipped their latest smartphone with the following key features: a Kirin 960 chipset, claimed by the tech manufacturer as the highest performing smartphone processor; EMUI 5.0, Huawei very own intuitive user interface that streamlines the users’ experience with the OS; a large battery size of 4000 mAh with SuperCharge technology that delivers a full day’s charge in 20 minutes; 2nd generation Leica dual-lens camera with 20-megapixel monochrome sensor, 12-megapixel RGB sensor, and Hybrid Zoom, featuring a superior 2x magnification; and a 5.9″ Full-HD display featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with Native Damage Resistance.
By optimizing its hardware and software systems, Huawei said they have produced a phone that becomes faster with more use. It is powered by the Kirin 960 SoC, the world’s first chipset to feature an ARM Cortex-A73/A53 Octa-core CPU and Mali G71 Octa-core GPU.
When combined with Huawei’s Machine Learning Algorithm and EMUI 5.0, an intuitive Android user experience with performance-enhancing solutions powered by the latest in artificial intelligence, Huawei added that the Mate 9 becomes more intelligent as it understands and adapts to the user’s phone usage behaviors – accelerating the phone’s processor, making the operations smoother and more responsive.
While its dual-lens technology is co-engineered with German camera manufacturer giant, Leica. Huawei and Leica have continued to improve and enhance the optical performance of the camera module; a second generation which now includes a 12-megapixel/F2.2 RGB sensor, a 20-megapixel/F2.2 monochrome sensor and enhanced image fusion algorithms that work in concert to produce stunning photography.
The RGB sensor captures true-to-life colors, while the monochrome sensor captures intricate details and depth resulting in the iconic Leica Image Style most especially in taking portraits. The 4-1 Hybrid Auto-focus features laser focus, phase detection focus, depth focus and contrast focus.
Its 4000 mAh high-density battery along with Huawei’s all new SuperCharge technology and its advanced power saving technology, increases battery life to provide over two days of uninterrupted performance. This includes a 40 percent increase in call time and a 20 percent increase in gaming time. Finally, the Super Safe 5-gate safety mechanism enables real-time monitoring for voltage, electric current and temperature. This safeguards the battery while charging and guarantees a longer battery life.
“After the successful launch of Mate 8 in the Philippine market, we are pleased to finally bring the highly anticipated Mate 9 to all Huawei fans in the country,” said Mark De Joya, Marketing Director at Huawei Mobile Philippines. “Mate 9 not only delivers professional smartphone photography quality, but enhances the entire smartphone experience with high-grade processor and long-lasting battery fit for today’s fast-paced and always on-the-go lifestyle of the new breed of entrepreneurs and businessmen.”
