MANILA, Philippines — Telecom operator Smart Communications will be taking pre-orders for Samsung Galaxy S III, one of the most sought-after smartphones this year, beginning May 23, reports said recently.
Samsung’s latest smartphone device, unveiled in London on May 3, will be offered under the telco’s All-In Plans, which gives subscribers the option to choose the kinds of mobile services bundled with their plans.
“The Samsung Galaxy S III will be available from Smart bundled with Unli Data Plans that all come with unlimited mobile Internet, plus free SMS and call minutes,” said Wo Rosete, head of external relations for Smart, as quoted by YugaTech.
Over the weekend, the two rival networks — Smart and Globe — have been posting clues on their respective Twitter accounts, which lead many to assume that both operators would be offering the highly coveted Galaxy S III.
The fiercely competitive telcos have even drafted their own hashtags — #SmartGalaxyS3 and #GlobeGalaxyS3 — for their new smartphone offering, as they have done with other big-ticket device releases such as the Nokia Lumia and the Apple iPhone 4S.
Globe, for its part, said details have yet to be made available regarding their own offering, when contacted by InterAksyon.
Executives from Samsung Philippines have indicated earlier that the Galaxy S III would be launching in the Philippines in the week of May 24, when the new offering would begin shipping globally.
The Galaxy S III is powered by Samsung’s own 1.4GHz Samsung Exynos 4 Quad processor, 4.8-inch Super HD AMOLED screen, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera and comes packed with the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Android’s operating system.
Initial impressions suggest the Galaxy S III is a hardware and platform behemoth, sufficiently able to handle complicated tasks and on-board software features included by Samsung upon shipping.
Samsung has revealed no unit price details as of posting.
