13-year-old Centeno qualifies for Women’s World 10-Ball tilt

13-year-old Filipina Cheska Centeno is headed to the Yalin Women’s World 10-Ball Championship after topping the 3rd qualifying heat of Stage 1 of the championships, defeating fellow Filipina Geona Gregorio of Bugsy Promotions in a tightly contested final, which she won 7-5.
In the main stage, she will get the opportunity to play against some of the world’s best players such as Kelly Fisher of England, Jasmin Ouschan of Austria and 2009 World 10-Ball Champion Rubilen Amit.
“I played with Cheska two years ago and was impressed by her game,” said Amit, who admitted she was happy to serve as a role model for young female pool players in the Philippines.
The main stage will be held August 20th-24th at the Robinson’s Galleria Mall, where an elite group of 48 players battle it out for the world title.
Taiwanese players dominated the first day of the qualifying rounds, copping the first four spots en route to getting five qualifiers for the day.
Three Filipinas, including Centeno, are set to enter the main stage, which will feature players from over 20 countries from Europe, North America, South America, Australia, Africa and Asia.
