Adamson, Perpetual, La Salle hurdle Fr. Martin Summer Cup assignments

The Adamson Falcons, the University of Perpetual Help Altas and the La Salle Green Archers outplayed separate rivals in contrasting fashions last Sunday in the 18th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament.

Alex Nuyles struck with a second left, propelling the Adamson Falcons to a 67-65 stopping of the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers at the Dom Placid gymnasium of the San Beda-Manila campus in Mendiola.

Nuyles led with 17 points, and his heroics kept the Falcons right on track for a quarterfinal berth in Group A with their fourth consecutive triumph.

The Perpetual Help Altas, getting 16 points from Scott Thompson, blasted the Philippine Merchant Marine School Mariners, 76-68.

The Green Archers drew strength on the efforts of Enrique Herrera, Alfonso Gotladera, Gabriel and Martin Reyes as they walloped the undermanned Trinity University of Asia Stallions, 85-51,

The Altas eked out their third win in four matches, while the Green Archers improved to 3-2, and this kept them in contention for quarterfinal seats in Group B.

Herrera tallied 16 points for the Green Archers, while Gotladera had 13, while Gabriel and Martin Reyes made 11 and 10 points.
