Air 21 has signed Australian league veteran Michael Dunigan for their campaign in the Commissioner’s Cup, a move confirmed by Express coach Franz Pumaren to InterAKTV.
“We’re bringing in Michael Dunigan. We expect him to be here by January 22, but we’re working something for him so he can come here earlier,” Pumaren said in a telephone interview.
Dunigan, according to Pumaren, is a “young energetic scoring big man.”
“He’s still playing in Australia, so definitely he’s in game shape,” said Pumaren. “And he will provide us the scoring presence we need inside.”
By tapping Dunigan, the Express are releasing the rights to Marcus Douthit, who reinforced the squad last season.
Dunigan saw action in the NBA preseason with the Memphis Grizzlies, before suiting up in the National Basketball League in Australia for the Perth Wildcats.
He has averaged 13.8 points and 9.8 rebounds in his first four games with the squad.
