LA Tenorio was a hot commodity in the days leading up to the draft, with teams owned by the San Miguel Corporation and the MVP Group of Companies sending feelers to the Alaska Aces for his services.

Apparently, there was no offer quite enticing enough for Alaska team manager Joaqui Trillo to bite.

“If they want him they have to pay the price,” said Trillo. “But we intend to keep LA, he’s the face of the franchise.”

Trillo expects Tenorio, who is currently with the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team competing in the Jones Cup, to lead the retooled Aces, which underwent a major offseason revamp of its coaching staff, signing veteran coaches Louie Alas, Leo Austria, and Alex Compton to assist Alaska head coach and Joaqui’s son Luigi Trillo.

Alaska also drafted Calvin Abueva with its second overall pick in last Sunday’s draft along with guards Raphy Reyes and Karl Dehesa.
