Alaska re-signs old reliables Nic Belasco, Eddie Laure

PBA/Nuki Sabio

The Alaska Aces made a big splash on Friday after a trade that netted them JVee Casio, Dondon Hontiveros, and a second round pick in exchange for star guard LA Tenorio, Wesley Gonzales, and Hans Thiele.

But the franchise also announced a couple of quiet moves expected to solidify the team’s frontline by re-acquiring former players Nic Belasco and Eddie Laure.

The two men were part of the Aces team that won the 2007 Fiesta Conference title, the same conference documented in the seminal Filipino basketball book Pacific Rims.

The 38-year-old Belasco made his PBA comeback last season with a short stint with the Powerade Tigers after seeing action for the Westports Malaysia Dragons in the ASEAN Basketball League.

Laure, who turned 35 last month, also spent the past season in the ABL for the AirAsia Philippine Patriots.
