Arum happy with bible-thumping Pacquiao

Top Rank big boss Bob Arum is one of the happiest men on the planet owing to the transformation of his cash cow Manny Pacquiao.

As Pacquiao appears to get used to being a Bible ambassador, Arum said it was much better than the old Pacquiao.

“A great trade-off,” said Arum as he described Pacquiao’s decision to transform from a party animal and bigtime gambler to a Bible preacher.

Pacquiao’s days of “carousing and losing money in casinos” are a thing of the past, noted the 80-year-old Hall of Fame promoter from New York.

Pacquiao is in the final stage of promoting his June 9 showdown with Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand in Las vegas and in interviews and statements made the past few days, the 33-year-old Filipino fighter has been spewing out Bible passages right and left.

Recently, Pacquiao sold out his casino shares and even gave away his roosters to friends for free as he prepares to alter his outlook in life.

Arum has been promoting Pacquiao since 2005 although Top Rank had promoted one of his fights–in Nov 2001 against Agapito Sanchez–in San Francisco.

Now that Pacquiao has started to mellow down, it has been reported that he might even consider retirement after the Bradley fight.

But it is more believable that Pacquiao will hang up his gloves in late 2013.

Pacquiao is currently in New York for the last leg of his promo tour and should be back in Manila this weekend.

Pacquiao will start his training camp in mid-April in Baguio.
