Philippine national men’s football team coach Thomas Dooley will still be calling the shots for the Azkals for the next two years after agreeing on a contract renewal with the squad.
Azkals manager Dan Palami confirmed this development on Thursday.
“The PFF as well as the management of the Azkals are certainly impressed with what he has done for Philippine football and for the National Team and this is the reason why we have decided to extend his contract for another two years, so that he can lead us in the Asian Cup Qualifiers”, said Palami.
“All the other conditions remain the same, we are just working on the documents to be signed, but in principle and as far as we are all concerned, the show goes on.”
Dooley signed as Azkals head coach on February 2014, taking over Hans Michael Weiss.
The former US national team captain recently led the Philippines to the third round of the 2019 Asian Cup qualification round, where they will try to join the Asian Cup for the first time.
Apart from Dooley’s contract extension, Palami also announced that the Azkals are planning friendly matches against Syria in June in Bacolod and against Kyrgyzstan after that.
