B-MEG’s locker room celebration video goes international
Few things capture the unbridled joy of winning a PBA championship more than the post-game locker room celebration, where members of the winning team douse each other — and the unlucky courtside reporter who goes to interview them.
The B-MEG Llamados’ euphoric celebration caught the eye of the folks across the pond at Grantland, with editor Rafe Bartholomew (who also contributes for InterAKTV) noting the breakout stars of the video — B-MEG guard Mark Barroca and AKTV courtside reporter Erika Padilla:
Erika Padilla deserves all the credit in the world for her composure… Near the end of the video, around the 2:20-minute mark, a star emerges in B-MEG reserve guard Mark Barroca, who is jumping up and down like a Price Is Right contestant who has just won a new car when his interview begins… And then he manages to get his arm around Padilla’s shoulders and hold her throughout most of the rest of the interview while the young reporter’s eyes bug out and she almost visibly wonders: ‘What have I gotten myself into?’ It’s awkward, adorable, and a little alarming all at once.
Over Twitter, she did however clarify that Barroca was a gentleman who was just really excited about the championship:
