Beermen defend home turf vs Saigon Heat

The San Miguel Beermen try to hike their winning streak to five when they take on the Saigon Heat Saturday in the ASEAN Basketball League at the Ynares Arena in Pasig.

The Beermen look to continue their solid hold of second place against the Heat in their 6 p.m. match-up.

Along with the league-leading AirAsia Philippine Patriots, the Beermen had also made a break-away from the other teams after capturing an 86-78 victory over Bangkok Cobras last week.

San Miguel currently has claimed 10 of 13 victories this season and a win will reiterate the neck-and-neck battle with the Patriots for the lead in the standings.

Leo Avenido proved that he is one of the leading candidates for ABL’s best local player award as he scored a game-high 33 points in the Beermen’s win over the Cobras.

The Heat will need to put the clamps down on Avenido if they want to pull off an upset over the Beermen. Saigon has lost two straight games which began when it lost to the Patriots, 73-57, last week.
