Beermen use late charge to down Indonesia in ABL finals opener

ASEAN Basketball League
Veteran point guard Froilan Baguion presided over a late charge as the San Miguel Beermen defeated the Indonesia Warriors, 86-83, in Game One of the ASEAN Basketball League finals Sunday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Baguion, who helped the Philippine Patriots and the Chang Thailand Slammers to a championship in each of the first two seasons of the ABL, quarterbacked the Beermen in a late stretch that saw them complete a rally from a 14-point second-quarter deficit.
His three-pointer tied the game at 77-all, before issuing a long pass to import Nick Fazekas for a three-point play that game San Miguel its first lead since the opening period.
Import Duke Crews led the Beermen with 22 points, while Leo Avenido added 21. Indonesian reinforcement Evan Brock led all scorers with 24 points, while Filipino-American guard Stanley Pringle added 21 for the Warriors.
