Top Rank head Bob Arum is not opposed to the idea of Juan Manuel Marquez fighting Manny Pacquiao for a fifth time, shortly after the Mexican knocked out the Filipino fight icon Sunday at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.
“Why not?” Arum said shortly after the fight. “This fight will go down as a ring classic.”
The veteran promoter noted that legendary fighters Sugar Ray Robinson and Jake LaMotta clashed in the ring six times.
Marquez’ knockout was the first in the series between the two boxers; all their previous fights went the distance, with Pacquiao winning twice and drawing once.
Pacquiao said he’s willing to get back into the ring with his long-term rival. “No problem,” he said. “It’s up to my promoter.”
