Reports from Mexico City say that plans are afoot for Hernan “Tyson” Marquez and Brian Viloria to slug it out in late-September or early-October.
The venue will either be Mexico City or Home Depot Center in the city of Carson in California.
Marquez, acknowledged as one of Mexico’s top dogs in the fight game, is aching to get his hands on Viloria, who is coming off a sensational knockout win over the usually durable Omar “Nino” Romero.
Before dispatching Romero last May 13 at the Ynares Center in Pasig, Viloria also blew away the feared puncher Giovani Segura last December also at the same venue, making him a wanted man among Mexico’s punchers in the flyweight class.
Viloria has a promotional contract with Solar Sports, a Philippine outfit that produced and promoted his fights with Segura and Romero.
So far, there is no official word yet whether the media reports in Mexico are true or not.
After Viloria’s win over Romero, Solar Sports big boss Peter Chanliong revealed plans to promote Viloria’s next fight.
Viloria, who vacationed in Europe following his destruction of Romero, is currently in Los Angeles.
Marquez rings a bell among Filipino fight fans despite his loss to Nonito Donaire a few years back.
Marquez holds wins over Edrin Dapudong and Ritchie Mepranum.
