We were just having a bit of fun when we posted about the “fashion showdown” between coaches Chot Reyes and Bo Perasol last Wednesday, so we didn’t think we’d be doing a follow-up post on the topic.
But we just felt compelled to share the response of Coach Chot, ever the fashion icon, to our post via Twitter: “I dunno who wore it better, but am sure I wore it first. I have a shirt EXACTLY like Bo’s that I wore last season. It’s an A/X.”
In a message to InterAKTV, Powerade assistant coach Charles Tiu confirmed that Coach Bo was indeed wearing an A/X shirt.
For those of you who aren’t as fashion-conscious as the Talk ‘N Text coach, A/X stands for Armani Exchange, designer Giorgio Armani’s foray into retail fashion.
But even though Coach Bo was wearing designer threads in his showdown with Coach Chot, the Tropang Texters tactician still has a leg up on the competition. Turns out, he was debuting Athletenique, a new line of sports-inspired outfits from renowned local designer Rajo Laurel.
Laurel himself commented on our earlier post asking who wore it better: “Coach CHOT! Hands down! He is wearing RAJOMAN! Spring Summer 2012 ATHLETENIQUE! Fitness is Fashion!”
We can’t wait until all PBA coaches start wearing designer clothing on the sidelines. Just imagine the post-game press conferences: “I give credit to my players for this victory tonight, they showed tremendous heart. Oh, and I’d like to thank Rajo Laurel for my outfit, and Toni & Guy for my hair.”
UPDATE: AKTV shutterbug Paolo Papa has unearthed photographic evidence that Coach Chot indeed wore the A/X shirt first.
